Photos from Gary:
Last day with hopes of some stronger wind, it didn't happen. Heat 6 was fought out in 5 knots and rain.
The Novice fleet was sent home prior to Heat 7 starting, due to safety, cold, visibility, rain squalls and a wave of frustration setting in for some crews. The Main fleet took several goes to get going with shifting winds and the lead changing during the race.
Congratulations to all our sailors including the prize winners. It was a pleasure having you (and your parents) at Avalon. Thanks to all the helpers both on and off the water, including all the parents who took up the various support roles.

2/1/10 MJ Nationals
- Provisional Overall results now posted.
- Corrected Heats scratch and handicap results are updated, "Dummy" boat has moved.
- Tomorrow: AGM at 8am and warning racing from 10am ... NO briefing. Prepare for 2 races "back to back".
Today we got Heat 5 away with some more close racing and lead changes. The "fleet" heading out to Coffs Harbour race all kept off to the side as they went out to the start, which was fantastic.
Unfortunately some storm cells hovered nearby over lunch so all boats were held onshore and then the forcast for consistant wind looked terrible. Racing was cancelled for the arvo and as the hours passed the wind never came back.

- Results updated includes Heat 4,
- 6 races are required for a discard

Wind today tended to be light, shifting and challenging. All boats were kept ashore again prior to racing while the wind settled, however it firmed to 5~10 knots and allowed racing to get underway. We sailed further North today adjacent to Careel Bay. 2 races are scheduled for tomorrow.

31/12/09 MJ Nationals
We now have 3 races in the bag, but shifting light wind today meant no racing was completed today. so we are back again tomorrow on the 1st (our intended "lay day") for a 2pm start (no briefing).
27/12/09 MJ Nationals have started
A bit of rain during the morning but that did not stop the keeness amongst the 110 sailors.
With 55 boats registered, and 53 racing on the first day, this is one of the largest MJ Nationals in recent years.
Particularly pleasing is the 20 Novice boats. With the racing to start in earnest tomorrow, a number of boats have shown that they are fit, and ready to take the lead. It looks like an exciting challenge.
